Saving for shoes

What I want to buy- a pair of shoes

My plan

Reasonable cost $40-$100

I called Dressmart to see what shoes they had and they had a few specials so I went in for a look.

SHOPS I LOOKED AT

  • Asics in Dressmart
  • Adidas in Dressmart
  • New Balance in Dressmart
  • Puma in Dressmart
  • Fila in Dressmart
  • Rebel Sport
Summary

All the shoes my size at Adidas were $200, and Puma had no shoes in my size. Asics had tramping shoes my size but I was looking for running shoes so I did not buy them. Fila and New Balance had some my size but most of them were quite expensive. Rebel Sport did not have any good shoes on sale, so I went back for another look at New Balance and found a sturdy pair for $40!

Now finally I had a good pair of shoes so I could do what I love- SPORTS!!

The 2014 Gala!

The 2014 Clarkville School Gala!

In the first term of school, the PTA decided to run a Twilight Gala to raise money for the School. They asked our class if any of us were interested in running a stall. I said I was keen so I got together with Jayden and my brother Tom, who also wanted to give it a go, to do it with me.

What we did at our stall

  • The Rusty Ring Toss - there is a rusty pole and 4 rusty horseshoes. The aim of the game is to try and get as many horseshoes on the pole as you can. The more you get on, the better the prize!
  • The Easter Egg Hunt - there is a big container filled with shredded paper. The aim of the game is to find a trash can in the container. There is an Easter egg in some trash cans, which you get to keep, and a rock in the others. The rock has a number on it ranging from 1-3. The higher the number the better the prize!
Rusty ring toss- 1 ticket for 4 throws
Easter surprise- 1 ticket for 1 dig

The Process!

We had to meet together a few times and look for and buy some prizes to give away.We worked on the posters at lunchtime and discussed what we were going to do until we got things sorted.

The night came and we were all ready. We set all the gear up and put our signs up to show people what we had to offer. The night went smoothly and we had everything organised. All our shifts were fair and we had a lot of customers.

Profit and loss

   Revenue                       Expenses
  • Egg hunt- $119          * Chocolate bunny-$5
  • Ring toss- $14            * Easter eggs-$4
     Profit or loss

     * Profit=$124

Reflection

I think I did a good job helping out and being a leader especially with organising and planning. I think that my customer service was friendly and my explaining was clear. Our group did a good job and our games were heavily popular.  The rusty ring toss was not so popular because it was at the back, but if we brought it up, it would be dangerous so next time we could maybe not have an activity like that.

I learnt that everyone likes a surprise so that was why the Easter surprise was popular. We also used some of our old toys, so that cut down the price for prizes. It felt good to raise money to the school and I would be keen to do it again!

I will hand in my plan to you when you are ready to talk about this.

Cricket

Cricket !

In the summer me and tom play cricket for Kaiapoi gold. We had a great season, not losing a game and smashing most teams by a mile.

The team is made up of eleven boys from 8 years to 10 years, some of which are from our school.
This is our team - Lucas Kerry, Tom Kerry, Lachlan Jones, Mitchell pile, Hugh Ironside, Noah Maslin, Liam sue-tang, Spencer Jarrett, Jack Goodin, Dylan Weaich, Ben McSweeny.

We are coached by - Nathan Jones and Mike Pile.

We recently had our prizegiving in which our coaches had to give out 4 trophies. Player of the year- Jack Goodin  Most improved- Tom Kerry  Batsmen of the year- Lachlan Jones
Bowler of the year - Noah Maslin

I really enjoy playing cricket and I am really keen to do it again!

My Healthy Meal!

Today I made and planned a healthy meal for my family.

Main: Butter chicken
  • Chicken
  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Rice
  • Butter Chicken Sauce
Steps:
  1. Chop up the broccoli and carrots and put them in a bowl
  2. Cut bits of chicken off the chicken breast
  3. Put the bits of chicken in a pan and let them cook
  4. Pour the butter chicken sauce on the chicken
  5. Put some rice in a bowl and add some water
  6. Let the chicken in the pan simmer
  7. Put the bowl of rice in the microwave
  8. Dish out the meal on everyone's plate

Feedback!

Tom: Great job Lucas. It tasted just like mums!

Angie: Wonderful meal with just the right amount of sauce and very tender chicken.

Chris: Awesome cooking Lucas! I am looking forward to dining at Lucas's restaurant in the years to come. I am also looking forward to having leftovers tomorrow for lunch!

Helping out my family!

Now some of of my family are getting old they can't do all the things they used to be able to do. That means they sometimes need a lot of help. So I decided to help my grandparents by...

  • Sweeping the cobwebs
  • Taking the dog for walks
  • Looking after granddad when nana was away
  • Blowing the leaves out of their garage and porch
  • Cleaning up the court and sandpit area
Doing those things made me feel good because I knew I was helping everyone one out. Now I would like to share some of my photos with you!

Canterbury cross country!
The run of challenges!

As I walked up to the starting line butterfly's were buzzing around in my stomach like little maniacs! "On your marks, go!" so I pushed my way in to the middle of the pack. When I was half way up the hill my arms felt like they were being weighed down with cement. After a bit more running I saw mum and dad on the sideline saying "keep going, you can do it" so I kept on going.

Soon it got nearer to the creek and the mud was picking up... then slip the guy next to me slipped and fell as I stumbled next to him. Soon enough I could see the finish line. I spotted Dad on my left and he said " pick up the pace!" so I ran like I was being chased by a pack of hungry wolfs! I passed someone and continued sprinting, 100 meters to go 50,10... I had done it!

I wanted to collapse and die but I had to walk to the tent to get my place recorded.  I crawled over to my mum and dad and gulped down every last bit of water! Mum and dad were so proud of me!

I really enjoyed representing Pegasus and clarkville school for Canterbury champs cross country. It was awesome!
